Rose Hill Band
Scott & Linda Ortberg; Born and raised in Iowa formed a variety ensemble in the early 1970’s and toured the mid-west playing six nights a week. Linda is an accomplished guitar player, lyricist, and vocalist and Scott is an accomplished bass and trumpet player and vocalist. They were married in 1972 and decided to cut back on the road schedule to raise their family. Soon, they found that music had to take a back seat to family and they laid down their instruments to work full time. The job market brought them to Texas in 1985. After completing successful careers and retiring from full time work, the couple returned to their true passion of music. This time they are pursuing western and gospel music. Within a few short months, they formed Rose Hill Band. Friends of Rose Hill Band and playing on the recently released CD are Katie Howell Chapman aka “Rodeokate” on the fiddle, and Jerry Gage on lead guitar and mandolin. Western swing and gospel music is their passion these days. They are booking local clubs, and Cowboy Church’s, and are members of the Fort Worth Cowtown Opry, and The Western Music Association.
Longtime friend and songwriter/poet, J. Ray Threatt, has partnered to help Rose Hill Band produce a five song Extended Play CD of all new original songs. They are hoping to release a full CD in the early spring of 2014 with even more original works as well as some old standards.
